Joe Kotora

Long-time GCI elder Joe Kotora is hospitalized and needs our prayers.

Joe worked at church headquarters many years ago and more recently served GCI churches in Pennsylvania. He was hospitalized recently with intestinal bleeding related to treatment of his heart condition. He was in critical condition and had to be given seven units of blood before he was stabilized. He is quite weak and frail and having trouble with his heart, making it hard to walk and breathe.

His family reports that though he is getting tired of it all he is trying to keep in good spirits. Thanks for your prayers for Joe and for his family in this difficult time.

  1. Do hope and pray that you will see improvement with the arrival of each new day, and will soon regain your strength. Thinking of you and your family.

  2. Dear Joe,

A lot of water has gone under the bridge since we first met you and your family when we transferred from New Orleans to the Wheeling/Uniontown church congregations in the early 70’s. Always loved going to your home in Monesset, PA as I recall. Our prayers are with you and your family.

  3. Thanks to all for your prayers and cards. Dad is doing well. He is home now, feeling great, just tired. He is joking around as usual, glad to hear from all of you. He is weak and in a wheel chair, but OK with that. Remains on oxygen and heart is working well now. No more bleeding. However, he desired no further heroic medical interventions in the future which we all agree for him is the appropriate thing to do. Remembering all of you fondly and appreciate your continued prayers. This is the easy time, while he is all patched up. Later on as he begins to decompensate again, will become the more difficult time. Have no idea when that may be. Could be quite some time from now, hopefully. I am enjoying, cherishing the time we have with him now. Thanks again. Sandie Kotora
