We are saddened to learn that Kayte (Youngblood) Wolverton died on July 21 following a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. She died in a hospice facility near Vancouver, Washington. She and her husband Monte had moved to the area a few years ago to be near their daughter Monika, their son-in-law Simon and granddaughter Annika.
Kayte, like her husband Monte, graduated from Ambassador College and then worked in publishing The Plain Truth magazine, first for Grace Communion International, then for Plain Truth Ministries.
Kayte is survived by Monte, her mother Esther, her stepfather John Livingston, her daughter Monika Spykerman, her son-in-law Simon, her granddaughter Annika, her foster daughter Gadiela Gallant with her husband Daniel and their children Kate and Matthew.

Dear Monte. I well remember Kayte years ago while we attended Imperial School in Big Sandy, Texas. My memories are of her playing volleyball when the redwood building was a gym. You will be in our prayers. Don Engle
Hi Monte and family,
Alberta and I send our heart felt condolences to you and yours. We remember serving with you folks in the same local church from 1997-2001 and we were blessed by your example, efforts and prayers. May God give you strength each day as you face this challenge in your life. Your bro and sis, Tom and Alberta
Dear Monte and family, Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and yrs during this difficult time. During Joyce’s long battle with cancer we were encouraged by Ps 23. “Yea though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death I will fear no evil for thou art with me…’ and those very reassuring words “Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life I WILL LIVE IN THE HOUSE OF THE LORD FOREVER” Kayte is in God’house forever and forever. Halleujah! Amen.
Monte, I guess I’ll just be honest here. One thing that really picks my posterior is; why do some people have to travel a journey of extreme suffering? Peter saw sufferings as producing a faith/trust more precious than gold (1 Peter 1:7). Still that’s a question with not a lot of good answers this side of eternity. Kayte has walked through that portal into the Holy City built on walls of grace. But I realize that this has left a “big hole in the heart” of you and your family. The work you and Kayte have done together through PTM in sharing the grace living inside both of you has helped many including me. We pray that Father, Son and Spirit mega-bless the times you and your family gather and reminisce over the good times you shared with Kayte.
With love and tears.
We are so sorry to know of your loss. May God, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, keep you and your family snuggled in His loving and compassionate arms during this time of loss and healing. Thinking of you all.
In Christian Love

Hi Monte and Monika–I didn’t know Kayte too well but she stands out in my mind for her attitude and compassion during the harum scarum years at Pasadena Headquarters in 1995-1996. These were times when 100 people were laid off in a one or two day period. Kayte was with us at Editorial at the time and doing something related to Human Resources. I remember as the staff thinned out and things got quieter and quieter how she spontaneously shared with me a handout she had recently received from a seminar she attended on “Survivor Shock.” We talked briefly about it as I was feeling my own pain at the time and still have the handout. I remember thinking at the time, We are lucky to have people around like Kayte. I sense the same spirit of “people first” in Monika and I know, Monte my friend, the days ahead will be tough. But you have lots of people praying for you in churches where the Wolverton name still matters. I have your “Wolverton Bible” prominent on my shelf and like to share copies with kids and shut-ins when I get a chance.
Much love, Neil and Susan Earle
Monte, Hazel and I were AC classmates of you and Kayte. She was so vibrant, energetic, talented and pretty. Hard to believe she was one who fought through the battle of cancer, but I’m sure she did just that. We were sent back to the 1967-71 Envoys and found all the pics of Kayte and you and shared them at church where we prayed for you both and continue to pray for you and the family. We laughed and cried through the Envoy journey. Can’t wait to see her again in her glorified state. Thanks to our Covenant God for His promises in the Lord Jesus.
