President’s Video: Mentorship

Video unavailable (video not checked).

In this Update, President Greg Williams talks about the life of the church and how Christ-centered mentorship plays a vital role in our ministry journey.

Devotional: We Can

Matthew 20: 22 “You don’t know what you are asking,” Jesus said to them. “Can you drink the cup I am going to drink?” “We can,” they answered.

James and John believed they were ready for a more important job. They were looking for more authority and status.  I am sure we can identify with the need to have more and to be more.

Our confidence in ourselves can be misleading when we follow our thoughts and desires.  For this reason, it is imperative to turn over our plans, hopes, and dreams to the one who knows us best and is the Alpha and Omega.

When we place our trust in him, the words “we can” take on new meaning.  We can because he is leading the way and doing it through us. We can because he did all the work so long ago.  We can because he will equip us with all we need to succeed as we represent him.

Trust the Lord to promote you when he knows you are ready and not a moment before.

Prayer: Lord, we thank you for keeping us from getting ahead of you. Help us listen and learn as you prepare us for what you have in store.  There is power in the words “we can” when we have the wisdom to trust you.  In Jesus’ name, we pray.  Amen

2021 Denominational Celebration Announcement

At the Home Office, we have been following the ongoing pandemic and prayerfully discerning how to move forward with the Denominational Celebration. Out of caution and care, we have made the difficult decision to transition the event from in-person to virtual. Although we will miss reuniting in person, we are excited for the opportunity to connect virtually with even more members of our global fellowship.

The virtual event will be July 23 – 25, 2021. We will be processing refunds for the in-person event, and opening registration for the virtual event in the weeks ahead. Further updates and announcements, on this event and ones to come, will be available at gci.org/events.

Thank you for your prayers and your faithful support during this long season of challenge and may we all continue to rest in the assurance we have in Jesus.

Faith Avenue Feature: Connect Groups

Cleveland, Ohio, USA

Please join us in praying for our new men’s book study Connect Group. We are so excited because ten men are taking part, and we already see prayer warriors and leaders emerging.

Seattle, Washington, USA

We ask that you lift up our new Tuesday night Connect Groups. We will be watching a “You’re Included” video each week with a discussion time to follow. May this be a time of discovery of who Jesus is and who we are in him.

Springfield, Missouri, USA

Our small group prayer meetings on Wednesday nights have been very successful and rewarding. We have grown in relationship with God and one another, and we are also praying for those in our community whom we come into contact with, even if we have never met them personally. Please join us in praying that the love of Christ will be evident in us and the light of Christ will draw our neighbors to desire to be a part of the body.

Kenockee, Michigan, USA

Our new neighborhood Connect Group is now connecting new people back to the church! We have two couples as well as four additional women attending church weekly. One couple has invited another couple from work and they now attend regularly too, with two of their other connections as well. We are hoping that this continues to grow!

Gospel Reading Challenge

Since March 1, we have enjoyed being with and getting to know Jesus through our Gospel Reading Challenge.

Click the image below for more information on the official GCI Gospel Reading Challenge Facebook group, where we will have a group discussion and share insights from our reading and meditation.
