Death of Luann Patrickson

We were greatly saddened to learn of the recent death of Luann Patrickson. Here is a message from her husband, George Patrickson, who is a retired GCI-Canada pastor:

George and Luann
George and Luann Patrickson

It is with a heavy heart that I write to let you know Luann died on October 12 in Lions Gate hospital. During her last week she started experiencing severe difficulties and was admitted to the hospital. Her condition was deteriorating quite rapidly and she spent her final two days under palliative care. The family was able to be with her and each had time alone to say their personal goodbye.

It will be difficult coming to terms with the fact that she is no longer with us and we will miss her warmth, kindness, gentle spirit and all the many wonderful things she brought into our lives.

On behalf of Luann and all the family, I thank everyone for their love and prayers offered for her over the last 12 months as she battled cancer. She was appreciative of these and of the many cards and messages she received.

Prayers for the family over the next while would also be appreciated as we come to terms with her passing.

Cards may be sent to:

  1. George – Connie and I are deeply saddened at this news. We have so missed seeing you two over the past few years! God has now received someone with a very special and unique laugh! Our prayers will be with you, Ron and Ed and family.

  2. Condolences George regarding this sorrowful loss. We have seen you only a few times since AC days, but it’s hard to believe this spirited lady has succumbed. Earth’s loss is gain in the heavenlies, and we pray for your adjustments and comfort. Hazel and I are now retired as well in Pasadena.

  3. George old friend–though I always remember us as young couples back in Calgary in 1978–this kind of hurt makes us realize what an enemy death is. Thankfully it is the last enemy Lunann will have to face. She could always see the bright side of things and possessed a remarkable sense of empathy. Susan and I are quite saddened and will be with you all in spirit these next few days–God’s peace on all of us–Neil and Susan Earle

  4. We are sorry to hear of your loss. May God, through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, keep you and your family snuggled in His all loving and caring arms during this time – and always.

  8. Dear George and family,
So sad and sorry to hear of Luann’s passing. She was a bright gem of a lady! I have such great memories of you all during my beginning years in pastoral ministry in Vancouver and many years later of Ed’s visit with us in Australia.

Prayers, sympathies and love to all of you at this difficult time. Phil

  9. Dear George,

We will always remember you and Luann coming to New Zealand to be a guest speaker. Everyone loved your warmth and humor. You may still remember standing on the balcony of the hotel in Rotorua watching our son lighting matches and throwing them in the pool. You stood out of sight where he couldn’t see you and said, “Chad – this is God watching and you shouldn’t be doing that!”

You and your family are in our prayers,
    Don & Alix

We are saddened to learn of your loss. We had a common tie with Luann–the three of us being from New Jersey and her father counseled us for baptism. It’s been a long time since our time in Canada but we have fond memories. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
