James Newby

GCI pastor James Newby requests prayer for himself. In being treated for an infection, it was discovered that he has a mass on his left kidney. A CT scan was conducted recently and the results are pending. To add to the stress on the family, James’ daughters have chickenpox and the family is facing a substantial drop in income (with implications for health insurance coverage). Please pray for James, for his wife Karen and their children at this difficult time. Cards may be sent to:

  1. Dear James and Karen,

We will be thinking of you. I know how it feels when the waves seem to crush down on our lives all at once. Don’t claim to understand these times and I am still learning to hold unto Jesus trusting that He will provide what we need. God loves you and he loves your children. In that realization we place our lives in our Father’s hands.

    In Him,
    Santiago

  2. Dear James,

I’m sorry to read you are confronting some health and income problems. Time and occasion happen to every one. I just wanted to let you know my wife and me are asking to our loving and all powerful Lord in prayer for His loving intervention on your and your daughter health and that He might guide you and your family to see new doors to increase your family income.

God is with us all the way through and we can be confident He will never leave us or forsake us.

Love from my wife and me to you and to your family.

  7. Here is an update that James Newby posted on his Facebook page:

THANK YOU!!!! Can I just shout ‘hallelujah!!!!”

I’ll spare you all the drama of results not sent and all tension of waiting…

The CT scan showed no mass, no tumor – not even cysts – that were indicated on the ultrasound. It only showed one very small stone in the ‘other’ kidney. It is possible that I had passed a stone and not known it – if you can imagine that.

My family and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts for walking and kneeling with us in this valley. You helped us bear a big burden. It really did feel like a “the valley of the shadow of death” and the enemy knows how to play the fear card very well. But to everyone who shared a thought, a comment, a word of prayer at home, in your place of worship or publicly here on Fb or in an email, you are evidence of the love of God on earth today. You are a testimony of what the community of Christ is all about and I pray that he continues to unite us together in the bonds of love and peace. GOD is GOOD. You are loved.

  8. James, was just going to send you a note saying you will be in our prayers, and then saw your comment..that is so wonderful..so happy to hear the good news. God is on His throne for sure. You will still be in our prayers and your family. Virginia Newby
