Generations Ministries recently announced a GCnext gathering for young adults (age 18-28) that will be held in Durham, North Carolina, over the Martin Luther King holiday weekend in 2017 (January 13-16). The purpose of the gathering is to equip and empower young emerging leaders for their ministry with Jesus in and through the church.

We are pleased to announce the birth of Samuel Douglas Elliott, son of GCI Pastor Dennis Elliott and his wife Diana. The couple serve together in pastoring the Hickory, North Carolina, church and in directing GenMin’s The Rock summer camp. Born on February 25, Samuel weighed in at 6 pounds 3½ ounces, 18½ inches long. Everyone is doing well.

While visiting an art gallery near his home, GCI-South Africa elder Bob Klynsmith met a beautiful artist named Krista De Beer. They developed a wonderful friendship and now are engaged to be married. Congratulations to the couple!

GCI pastor David Gilbert and his wife Hinka are pleased to announce the birth of their third grandchild. Elias Maurice Gilbert (son of Gilbert’s son David and his wife) was born at home on March 7 (the father delivered his own son!). Here’s a picture of the proud grandparents with their newborn grandson shortly following the birth:

Worley Berisford, a long-time member of GCI’s congregation in Cambridge, Ohio, recently turned 100. His amazing story was featured in the local newspaper (Times Recorder)—to read the article, click here. Congratulations to Worley. We wish him many more years.

In last week’s issue of GCI Weekly Update we announced the availability of a new tri-fold evangelistic brochure with an invitation to attend that can be adapted by congregations or ministries for their own use. Since that post, we’ve made some improvements and corrected a couple of errors.

Great Commission Trips, one of Generations Ministries’ short-term mission organizations, recently announced it will be leading a short-term mission trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, on June 14–27, 2016. The trip is open to participants age 16-30.

During the trip, participants will assist Christ Fellowship Church (a GCI congregation) with various outreach activities including a community festival and a children’s camp.

We’re pleased to announce the birth of Emory Grace Williams, first grandchild of Greg and Susan Williams. Greg is the director of GCI-USA Church Administration and Development, and Susan is the registrar of Grace Communion Seminary. Emory Grace is the daughter of Greg and Susan’s son Glenn and his wife Crystal of Hendersonville, North Carolina. Congratulations to all!
