Death of Steve Burns

We were saddened to learn of the recent death of retired GCI pastor Steve Burns.

Steve Wayne Burns of Fort Smith, AR, died Thursday, Sept. 13, 2018 at age 71. Steve is survived by his wife, Silvia; a son, Ryan Burns; a stepson, Juan Bernal; two sisters; a brother; and four grandchildren.

Steve graduated from Ambassador College in 1970. He then served as an elder in west Texas, and later entered vocational ministry and pastored the GCI congregation in Harrisburg, PA.

Due to illnesses, Steve had to retire from employed ministry. He and his wife Silvia then moved to the Fort Smith, AR, area. After two serious falls he was hospitalized on September 10 and died on Sept 13.

    Our prayers and thoughts are with you in the experienced grief. Steve is now resting in the Lord until the “Great Banquet” when we will all celebrate eternity with our loved ones in the fellowship of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Hold on to the ONE whose love and reach even death cannot overcome.

  2. Dear Silvia and Family,
    Our prayers and thoughts are with you during this difficult time in life. I graduated a year before Steve, but knew him as a humble man and wanting to serve his Savior. I know he was a wonderful, loving pastor and will be greatly missed.

  5. I love and like my friend Steve and am sorry for your and our present loss, Silvia! I look forward to meeting up with him again, face-to-face! Know I am praying for your encouragement, faith and strength in the hope that comes from the Spirit even as we mourn. I’m grateful for his present peace and being past the sufferings of this world in the grace of the Lord Jesus and the Love of our Father! I can hear his laugh now and my heart is warmed! I see your quiet smile too and am encouraged!
